WHOS-IN Pro - User Help
The Options Screen is used to set your personal preferences. The settings are saved
into the database when you press the OK button.
If any options are grayed out, the WHOS-IN Administrator has disabled them.
Auto Log In - Sets your status to IN when WHOS-IN
starts. If you also have the Auto Clear Comments option checked, then your
DueBack and Comments information will also be erased without your intervention.
Auto Log Out - Normally this will sets your status to OUT when WHOS-IN is shut down, however if you have a 'protected' Status set (a custom Status like Vacation for example) the Auto Log Out will not overwrite your Status.
Auto Clear Comments - Erases your DueBack and Comments information when either you, or someone else sets your status to IN.
Display ListView items as PopUp Tooltips: This option allows you see the complete contents of a cell in the main In Out Board section by hovering your mouse over a cell. This is handy when the columns are narrow, and you can only see a small part of the data.
Display Groups in TreeView format: This allows you to choose how to display Groups - either on the left of the In Out Board (the default) in a TreeView like this:
or across the top of the In Out Board like this:
Refresh Rate Tab:
Refresh Rate Tab controls how often WHOS-IN scans the
server (looking for updated data, such as other people changing their Status).
The 'timer' is started whenever you return to the Main Screen from one of the other screens, hit the Refresh Button, or restore the screen to normal size from the Windows TaskBar or SysTray.
A 'refresh' is automatically performed whenever any one of the above tasks is performed - which resets the timer, and the countdown starts again.
The Status Bar at the bottom of the main screen also displays a count-down timer with the number of seconds until the next automatic refresh.
You can hit the Refresh Button on the ToolBar to rescan the database immediately.
System Tray / Task Bar Tab:
Auto Minimize: Sends WHOS-IN to the Windows TaskBar and or
whenever you change your status. This in turn displays whatever application was
'behind' WHOS-IN at the time.
Minimize on Close: This option is designed to help prevent shutting down WHOS-IN accidentally by minimizing it instead of closing down.
WHOS-IN should normally be kept running at all times, so other people can see your Status, and send you messages.
Task Bar Options: You can choose where you would like a minimized WHOS-IN to be... On the TaskBar, in the System Tray, or both. The SysTray option is the least intrusive, and uses less screen real estate.
The options here allow you to choose the size of the Icons on the ToolBar, and
decide if you want text labels under each button.
If text labels are off, you can still see the context of a button by hovering your mouse pointer over it.
